Know the value of used tools....... I use a system for determining whether a deal is good or not with regards to used tools. Obviously, there are undoubtedly others.
1. Know what the tools you're considering would cost new.
2. New (very new looking) are worth no more than 50% of the going retail price.
3. Used/worn but very usable should be in the 10% - 25% range.
4. If it's your brother-in-law or some other dear relative the deal may simply not be worth it at any price.
If the offer is off from the above by much....walk away. People selling used tools, or anything for that matter offer no after-sale services, no returns, no warranty; these things cost a merchant money.
