I guess if you are serious enough to also give them a down payment or that the price range from you is high enough but otherwise I don't see why they would search too hard to fulfill your dreams, especially if your price range is cut throat.
The shop where I used to work before do that if a car buyer is serious enough.
We did it a few month ago with Mission Viejo Saab when my wife fell in love with the 07 9-3 60th anniversary edition but the first one we looked at slipped through our fingers due to trying to haggle the price and someone else picked it up.
Since my wife had already "bought" that car in her mind she asked the dealer to look for another one and a week later one came off a lease but as you can understand, she had lost all bargaining chips at that time so it was just a matter of paying what they asked since she wasn't going to walk away from that one.
