I think if you account for the weight of a modern Saab versus an old model, a Viggen would be even faster w/ a 2.8T V6 if you can get the power down. The V6 has a wall of torque...
e.g. Today's 2wd V6T have to cut max torque in 1st and 2nd because the traction would be too challenged.
