This was the same point I thought up! Unless they have video cameras, I think you and your son should go down there and pay for your car, and see what they bring you! If they want to be paid, then they should give you your car back (and undamaged, too!). but they don't have your car, so they don't get paid. I think you should just let it slide - call it even.
