Doesn't matter how old if there were California Emissions and Federal Emission vehicles made the same year, and the EPA label doesn't mention both, and it doesn't have at least 7,500 miles, you can't bring it into California without a hardship, like a military transfer or death. I'm struggling with a beautiful 1996 Ural Side Car rig, only 1,000 miles, but not CA legal.
This protects the integrity of California emissions regulations by outlawing the sale of non conforming new cars, gotta' be genuine used with atleast 7,500 miles. VW TDI's were have been available for a long time in other states but not California for example.
