Honda Fit??

This is kind of an apples to orange comparison but here it goes.
My elderly parents have this plan that they will buy a Honda Fit then give it to me or my son in four or five years. The Fit looks nice enough but kinda flimsy compared to a 9-3. Sure the 9-3 sticker is over $30K while the Fit Sport is about $17.9K.
My question is whether the Fit will be ready for the junkyard in 5 years -compared to the 9-3? My 1990 900S and 2000 9-5 have been such good cars, it seems like other cars just aren't built to last like they are. So I don't know.
I also wander just how much off the sticker can you get a 2009 9-3? The Saab dealer here has had the same stock for a long time. Honda Fits are going for sticker or only a few hundred below.
Thanks for any comments.
