Saw this post in the 9-3 forum and it got me wondering;
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"I was at my local dealer yesterday. According to my sales guy car production is at a minimum. Old model 9-5 production supposedly has ceased altogether and the new car isn't expected over here until late Spring next year at the earliest. My dealer has minimal inventory on the lot and I hope they can survive until the 2010 inventory starts rolling in. They tell me that even if Saab folds they will remain in business selling and servicing used cars."

How are dealers going to get over this hump? More importantly, can the brand survive a year of stagnation? I understand that there's government money to help with the transition, but momentum is a big deal in any industry and Saab will essentially be starting over mid-year next year. My local dealer only has a few new cars and these will undoubtably not last through the winter. Out of sight out of mind with the average consumer? Dealers that use the opportunity to ditch the line and save a little money?
Case in point, I'm considering another Saab (would be my 5th) and would buy something a few years old, but I'm just not so sure the infrastructure will be there to support warranty work. Furthermore, I LOVE buying CPO'd cars. I suppose the independents will always be there.
Note that I have little doubts about the quality of the product though (which is why I'm still considering getting another one).
