Those that were watching closely before the big financial crash (third quater of 2008, under Bush) saw $25B in loans to the Big Three before their bailout. The loans were to be used for new "energy efficient" design. THe Big Three all took them, GM got at least $8 Billion.
Ford mentioned at the time that they'd come out with a revolutionary new Mustand that used a turbo-4 motor as their new move into energy efficiency.
Just wait, GM will be showing up with turbo 4 motors in their cars to justify their $8 Billion, declaring how it's a "revolutionary" way to get more power and higher mileage... claiming their green credentials. Only Saab owners will realize that it's 30 year old Saab technology.
