then SAAB would have been paid handsomely for the work that was done for the various GM brands. SAAB based chassis, drive trains, and engines are currently used in Cadillac, Opel, and Buick, among others.
In a large company like GM, it is difficult to gage the effect of the technology and services drain on smaller divisions like SAAB. It is very possible that SAAB bled to death while helping the other GM brands.
I don't believe that GM management acted with malice, but GM management incompetence is certainly legendary.
