GM needs to update their full size trucks. Dodge and Ford have both redone theirs. A lot of construction and utility companies put off replacing their full-size pickups during the recession, and now those vehicles are due. The fad truck buyers got flushed out a long time ago, adn went to crossovers. What's left is still a strong core market of folks who really need trucks. Anybody who moves, does home projects, or lives in bad weather has a need for pickup at some point. You want to put a snowplow or get towed out of a ditch by a compact sedan? Plus truck fuel economy is going up all the time. Even Ford's newest pickups can't beat GM XFE pickups in highway economy. And Toyota's Tundra is a joke. Can't make more than 18 mpg highway, and the frames are rusting out. GM's next generation of trucks are probably going to be in the mid-20s mpg highway, real world. And they are the only OEM who make strong hybrid pickups.
Yeah, the OEMs will put out nice trim levels, and why wouldn't they? Pickup owners like nice digs, too.
