"Very sporadic infrequent glitches in code can be hard Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Tue, 2 Feb 2010 18:29:09 In Reply to: Re: Not hard for someone with his resources to dissassemble, BobS, Tue, 2 Feb 2010 12:46:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
and time consuming to find". No kidding! Long ago when I wrote call processing software, debugging other engineers undocumented code consumed most of my time, not doing actual development work. Like a telephone switch (now an almost obsolete device), I can envision that a cruise control module is a state machine with a lookup table for pointers to the subroutines that can run from various states. An exit to a "neutral state" is a given (or should be), as events do get out of sequence and control should then drop to the default - unless they paid no attention to error detection and routines.
Disassembling code is a big hobby for a lot of hackers, the tools are available. I wouldn't be too surprised if someone is already working on this.
