I have not been following the 9K board very closely. I knew some of your 9ks were falling by the wayside, but not that you were out of the game. My '95CSE had a low oil pressure incident last May, likely due to the oil pressure valve($15). My indy told me he felt the engine was toast, even though it was running well. I gave him the car after pulling a bunch of stuff off.
Picked up a 2005 Arc wagon auto. My first auto. Am told it is a great tranny, but still can't get used to not shifting. I miss it.
Wife liked the car, but still likes her '95 Imola Red Aero. When Jay Helt's daughter's 2004 Aero wagon became available, I jumped on it. The Aero version is much nicer. As soon as I can pry the '95 out of her hands, she will be driving the 9-5 Aero. I like the Aero version much better than the Arc, mostly due to suspension.
So I have upgraded my Saabs at a very reasonable price. But I miss the manual trannys, they just don't seem to be avail on the 9-5 and I'm told the Asian Warner is a better tranny than the manual. My gas milage is still around 30mpg on the hwy at 75-80mph, but city milage is way down to 17-20mpg.
I'm told the 9-5 is harder to work on, but needs less fixing than the 9k. We'll see.
Sorry to hear you are out of Saab autos, but you will never be out of the Saab Family. Stay in touch.
