What is the deal with tax? especially on an item like Posted by bender [Email] (#268) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bender) on Fri, 19 Feb 2010 16:18:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
the one I just got. I purchased a set of disc brakes, pads and calipers for an upgrade on my Viggen. I bought them from someone who was selling them on saabnet, and lives in Washington state. Since shipping to Canada is sooo very expensive, I had it shipped right across the border, and went to pick it up. The seller was kind enough to write me a receipt for far less than I paid. I HAD TO PAY TAX ON IT....I mean, I was okay with it in the first place, but wasn't expecting it. I declared everything when I came back as "used car parts," and had to give the government even more money.
I don't get it: A guy purchased some metal parts, had them in his basement (in another country, the *US* ) for six or so years, decided to sell them. I bought these used parts, and still have to pay tax on them? For what? Give me a break....it's legally a steal, that's what it is. Complete bogus. And, if I decided to sell them now to someone in the US, let me guess, they'll have to pay yet again?
That's my rant. Not something I usually do here. Bender.
