wave, i.e. very long wavelength relative to the depth (of ocean).
If it were that high in wave height in the open ocean, it would have put some Hollywood movies to shame when it hits land.
The sensor reads water pressure and is converted to water column height (as stated in the page). The water column height is in meters.
A pressure sensor is quite susceptible to noise. I don't know what the response time of such pressure senor or if they integrate over time to present the signal. I would chalk it up to noise contamination.
