the statistic as it is based on problems per 100 cars as opposed to total problems.
It is "below average," however, examination shows the average to be 155 problems for 100 vehicles and Saab is 3 more than that - as opposed to 100 more problems per 100 cars for the Land Rover.
The supposition you are using is skewed because cars such as Land Rover, Suzuki, etc. are so severe, that it throws the "average" in an awkward way. Look at how many brands are BELOW average as compared to above average. It is not the same as MEDIAN.
That being said, I personally know Saab isn't as reliable as say a Toyota (all comments about acceleration aside), but I'm not looking for a Toyota and am satisfied.
