lets say you bought a '57 NEW in '57. Drove it and maintained it perfectly for 50 years, never an accident, etc etc. Now you're 80 years old and you own a $50k-max car (remember, it's still a 50 year old car that's been driven and not restored, so it's not a $150k-plus car like you see at Barret-Jackson) that has a million miles on it, isn't very safe, gets poor gas mileage, is crappy to drive, and you probably don't even like it any more....
Is it worth it?
I don't know that ANY of today's cars will hold up that way with all the plastics and electronics. It will eventually get to the point that you can't keep it going any more.
What will be valuable?
You're talking recent cars that aren't valuable yet?
If I could predict that stuff, I'd be making millions in the stock market.
To keep one of today's cars decent and working 50 years later, you'd need to hermetically seal and store it.
Safest bets are low production exotic cars that rich guys will still want to look at in 50 years - Ferraris and the like.
