Is this possible? I never use a torque wrench on the oil pan drain plug. It is too awkward, and was given advice here to just grab the wrench from the middle, no far out where you have more torque, and go as hard as my hand will go. I then give it a little extra and it's good to go.
Only problem here, is this is aluminum and it is soft. I have two torque wrenches, one big one small. I bought the small one on sale for 50 or so dollars (from 70 or 80). Reason I'm concerned, is I read here once not to trust torque wrenches at the extreme readings. I can't use the bigger one since 20 ft lbs is at it's lower limit, and this smaller wrench (goes up to 250 inch lbs) I would have to put it up to 240 inch lbs (which is quite close to the top...). So, I'm afraid of it.
Would love to hear your opinion.
