Good and cheap grid tie? No such thing! Kidding... but really, my Xantrex ps2524 (or is it a 2425?) was like $2400 new, and it was almost a grid tie, but not quite. So, not sure where you could get a decent sized, pure sine wave inverter that was licensed for a grid tie. In any case, i bought mine used, and would recommend looking for a good used setup (get all the wiring, maybe some panels?) as you save sooo much money, and there aren't any moving parts. You need batteries to power it during outage, and they get pricey, obviously. Size is important, but i would highly recommend a genset to compensate for a too-small system, rather than size for all eventualities. If your bio-diesel production is working out ok, then a diesel genny (cheap chinese one for around $800 is not a bad way to go) converted with new hoses, etc, would do you proud.
Go with at least a 24v system, more if you are planning on lots of power...
Good luck-sell the SiS in the end?
