A lot depends on perspective. Back in the day a P1800 was a delightful car and they no doubt still are. But cars have come so far in the last 20 years that it's best to know how it's going to compare going in if you expect to enjoy owning one. I have lots of fond memories of cars I owned from that era (when they were just cars, not classics). Every now and then I get a chance to drive one and I'm almost always disappointed. Once you get past cute it's hard not to compared them to modern cars and very few cars from that era fair well. Mid-sixties Vettes, XKE's, any Porsche are exceptions. I would rate the P1800 more with MGB's, TR6s, and Alfas--charming and fun to drive as long as you don't go picking races with Ford Escorts.
