So ive been considering a purchase of a certain car with rear wheel drive and a blue and white propeller hood emblem. Anyway, said car has " 2 peice wheels ". Since no Saab that I know of ever had those type of wheels, I was wondering what kind of re-shoeing nightmare this could mean. After searching online for hours, I still cannot find an answer to the question of the purpose of 2 peice wheels, and if one needed to take apart the wheel to change tires? I can see how some incredibly large sizes like 19 and 20 inch with 35 sidewalls might need such a thing, wherein theres not enough tire to flex over the huge rim,but this car only has relatively normal 17s with 45 sidewalls. So a call to Tirerack tech got me an answer, is it correct? He said they only reason for the two peice is that if you wreck the rim edge or somehow one half and not the other, you can unbolt and just replace that half and not the whole thing? This sounds a litte ridiculous to me, any others know about 2 or 3 peice wheels?
