I lucked out and got one that had been returned to my local hardware store for a different model. Paid about $180 and it's been fine, going on it's 3rd or 4th summer. I don't use it a lot as I have a hilly 3/4 of an acre to mow and use a tractor, but the Poulan gets in the small places and does a great job. Only issue I've had was with the choke, which died after about year. Cost about $40 to have fixed. Other than that I put gas in and use it.
Have had 2 Craftsman and was not impressed. One attached the blade directly to the crankshaft end, so you can actually break off the end of the crank if you clock an immovable object with the blade. Neither one seemed all that well made and little things kept failing.
DK about Huskies, but they seem to do well.
2-stroke motors are getting thinner on the ground due to emissions. I still have one on my chain saw and a trimmer with interchangeable tools, but that's about it.
BTW, it's worth looking at yard sales. People moving often sell yard tools before they go.
