If you love the car and you're getting a good deal, by all means, go for it. I won't get into a debate regarding the viability of the company, simply due to the fact that there is still so much up in the air right now...even though I am an extreme optimist in regard to the future of Saab. Regardless, the viability of the company and any concerns regarding the warranty are irrelevant. There are laws to protect the consumer and even if Saab were to bite the dust tomorrow and close up shop, the warranty would still be honored (although where it would be honored may be another story).
In the event that Saab sticks with their business plan and continues to become more successful, I can only assume that resale value will increase accordingly. In the off-chance that Saab becomes the victim of some ill-fate, then the resale value will probably decrease. Then again, resale values have never been all that great for Saabs, so that argument will most likely either be a positive or neutral scenario.
At the end of the day, you want to be able to lie in your bed and know that you got a good deal on a car that you love and will put a smile on your face. You simply can't prepare for all of the unlikely "if" scenarios in life...you would become uber-paranoid if you tried, anyway. I would hate to have to go to bed at night knowing that I passed up a terrific opportunity...even if there did happen to be some theoretical risk involved. For what it's worth, I plan to buy a new Saab early next year and my list of concerns and reservations that may prohibit me from doing so is extremely small and negligible.
Good luck in your decision and let us know what you decide. Drive safely and KEEP ON SAABING!!!
