Others that have driven both the Aero XWD and the 2.0T model have said the latter feels more like a "drivers car" as having less weight (due to absence of the XWD system) makes it feel more tossable. I am glad, though, that the 2.0T version and the Aero are different enough to appeal to different tastes. Some Audi, BMW, or Lexus customers may prefer the Aero version. Longtime Saab owners may prefer the 2.0T version.
As for exterior design, I guess it is all a matter of taste. I like the clean lines and I think it is distinctive enough...case in point, while on the test drive with the 9-5 Aero XWD at the SOC last month, every time we stopped at an intersection, people in other cars kept staring at the 9-5. It definitely drew attention, likely because it was not something they had seen before, in other words, it wasn't just another Lexus, Audi, BMW, etc.
