I'm 2 for 2 on getting Saab/GM to "goodwill" me on 2 repairs (a front strut on 00 9-3 and alignment shims/install on my 06 9-5SC). I can't say enough about how far just being polite and nice to the operator on the phone is, they get so many people yelling at them all the time that being nice goes a long way. Also, it is good to let them know how you have had multiple GM/Saturn vehicles, will buy another due to good service/reliability, and that you get ALL your service at the dealer.
I'm 0/1 on Subaru Goodwill service, they are tough eggs to crack.
Good luck with this, and remember to treat them as you would like to be treated.
