There is very little known about the interior of the new 9-5. The platform is shared but Saab has always significantly improved them. Historically Saab has never produced a totally unique car from a content standpoint. The original Saabs used a DKW 2 cylinder two stroke, They later developed their own. The US Ford developed V4 for the Cardinal that was never built ended up in the German Ford Taunus and later the Saab 96 (The 96 was the test platform for that engine during Ford development). The Saab designed NG900 would have died before production as they did not have a platform for it. GM stepped in and had a platform that fit the car. The history of the English company Ricaro designed I4 for the Saab 99 is one that would take too long but Triumph and Saab shared in that. The 9000 was deigned with an Italian consortium including Fiat, Alfa and Lancia. No real Saab aficionado liked the 9-2, 9-7 rebadging but that is history. Hopefully Saab will get to run the company again and get back to their roots!
