Tons are a lot smaller than they used to be. I bought a typical Chinese 20 ton press. I've had it work pretty hard to remove some bushings - enough that it BANGS and jumps when the bushing comes loose.
Unless you put the 6-ton press on a stand of some sort, you will have trouble with clearance for working on large items (like rear control arms). I'd go at least 12.
