That was a fantastic engine! Your Viggen engine is in backwards! haha!
But seriously, that platform, while great in its time, has been out of development for a while, everything required to build them shut down + shipped off to China...
Imho, it will not be too long before Saab's ICE engine needs will be more minimal as they get more + more into hybrids + EVs... I can see a 1.6L fitting in fairly well in the future, and presumably they will continue to have access to the existing 2.0L and V6 engines they have today for a while as well...
