I'm sorry to say this, but what you are really wondering is whether you can entrust him with some other object that is also about 20yrs old. I have a 4.5yr old daughter myself, and trust me, based on my experience with "girl logic" from interacting with the women that I have dated, I dread the day I have to do the father-daughter dance and praise the groom what a good catch he is. LOL.
I'm afraid you might just have to let them be. If your daughter is not appreciative of the free car / free help, then don't give it. Let the new couple struggle for themselves. Either they work out and the hardship makes the relationship fonder, or they don't and make them more appreciative what you have been trying to provide them. It's part of the growing up process, I suppose. I would be supportive of the daughter, and avoid saying or doing anything that might be perceived to be patronizing to the new guy. He has to grow into his own man. Fathers can't take care of their daughters forever; there must be something in the guys that they are attracted to, even if we don't see it ourselves. . . either that or the biological strategies of eggs making more eggs / sperms making more sperms are more beyond our pretensions of logic. LOL.
