Auto makers will go to incredible trouble save a few cents on each car because in aggregate it leads to substantial savings and higher profits. How is it beneficial for them to engineer, test, certify, manufacture and keep track of two sets of taillights: one for North America and another for the rest of the world? Just the logistics of having the right kind of taillight supplied to correct cars on the assembly line must be costing them money. What kind of sick satisfaction to they get from degrading American consumer with red turn signal indicators?! How is it making them more profit?
I just don't understand.
First thing I did after buying my BMW wagon was buying a set of taillights with amber turn signals. I consider this a major safety issue. Frankly, I was afraid to drive it with red turn signals still on the car.
