I have not bought cars because of this
Especially in the U.S., so many drivers are oblivious that anything that makes your car and what you're doing more visible is worthwhile.
What makes me crazy is the cars with a clear lens over the turn signal, and the buffoons who replace the amber bulbs with clear ones. It may make them more noticeable, but it blinds the driver behind them!
Seems common among ricer boys, and some VW drivers, I've even seen a couple of local 9-3SS with this affliction.
