I had a roommate a couple years ago. German, around 20 years old. We got on the subject of cars and he was completely unaware of the whole superior-german-engineering thing. You know, how its supposedly higher quality, etc etc. He had no idea what I was talking about, and seemed to find it quite amusing. Do Germans not know about this? Is this some marketing myth propagated in the US over the past few decades? I wonder if in Mexico (and south) they proclaim American engineering prowess when our old Dodge and GM clunkers eventually make their way down there.
