Giving a little thought to a getting beater to tackle winter life in VT. From a *safety* perspective only (I know the other issues) what do you think of these options:
1998 Subaru Forester, 5-spd MT
1999 Audi A6 wagon, AT
Both are high miles, both have snows, both will be expected to do little more than truck through the snow for about 4 months. Both look clean and both are private-party sales listed at about $2,000 before dickering.
Thanks!

2003 9-5 Arc wagon (not the vehicle being benched for the beater)
