yes, saab has had some fantastic ads over the years... my other saab's a car, the reindeer vs 9-3 biopower sportcombi holiday tv ad, etc... left side vs right side brain tv ad... need to go back to that kind of stuff, and especially some sort of "we're back!" that shows strength...
Unfortunately, as good as the 9-5 sedan probably is, it doesn't seem to meet the needs of a lot of Saab enthusiasts, so they aren't running out to buy the cars + nobody sees them... doesn't seem to be the same level of excitement as the previous generation 9-5 launch to me... and I know it's a slow time of year for car sales, but when I went to our local dealer, wow, the place was deserted + the sales people were talking amongst themselves + barely noticed me at first... if nobody even tries the cars, no wonder sales are low!
I have friends who just bought a new Forster + probably 9-3x would have suited them better (Saab - Subie price differentials up here are less than the US)... as I understand it, they (former subie owners) didn't even test drive anything else! Advertising needs to target the Subie + Audi markets, especially to win back the ones who used to own Saabs - make it clear that Saab is independent once again... unfortunately, the new 9-5, as good as it is, doesn't scream that on it's own... let's face it (again, as good as it is), it's an interim car with significant GM influence + Saab needs a little more than that right now... I hope that new 9-3 is a bombshell, and that Saab can survive long enough to release it!
all just imho of course...
James...
