>> I don't get the whole "scared to buy a new 9-5 because it hasn't sold well" (YET!).<<
I get it, and that was one factor when I looked at the new 9-5 and eventually went elsewhere. I live in Maine, land of may Saabs, and I have not seen a NG 9-5 on the road. The dealer is now a Volvo dealer who absorbed the Saab franchise. If I spend $45k on one and have a problem, it will probably be the first time the tech has worked on a NG 9-5. If I have a problem in a year, it might be the 10th time. In 3 years, the company and dealer may not be there. I had a ton of problems with my '01 9-5 in the first few years, but at least when the DIC went everyone knew the problem without opening the hood, because there was experience with the car. Plus what will the parts inventory be in 2 years if they haven't sold any cars?
You can choose to disregard these factors, but IMHO very few other than diehard Saab loyalists will. Plus I thought the car was a bit overpriced, a big sedan wasn't really what I was looking for, and I didn't want to wait for the wagon. I really hope Saab makes it, but I don't think they will sell many NG 9-5s.
