that's a great story! we probably did the opposite. we bought the mint red (c900) with tan interior, sunroof, and I have to say we've enjoyed it, but it hasn't been cheap ;-)... learned a lot though!
So yeah, for the right person, if the 9-3 is a cherry, it may be deemed collectible + worth more to the right person... it is, after all, the last hatch (until the future arrives anyway)... saabnet classifieds largely support that... but, my bias with the 9-3 (or 9-5) is they are a great pragmatic Saab, but probably never to be as collectible as the c900s we already own (nor do we need to collect more cars)... locally, I see quite a few of these come up for sale in the 100k range + they're pretty cheap (and sometimes pretty rough). It really depends on the car, and often I find price + condition not always highly correlated... so my view, recognizing they have been out of production for a decade + likely even the cherries will soon need work, is to attempt to de-risk a purchase by looking for a real cherry: great price, well maintained, owner just moving on, ideally to a newer Saab... kinda like Noel found... those aren't too plentiful though! we've been looking on + off for a while ;-)... it's true though, you know a good one when you find one!
I don't mean to discourage the original poster...
