Let's hope they are following the FOMOCO example Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 2 May 2011 10:28:02 In Reply to: BULLETIN, David in Michigan, Mon, 2 May 2011 09:48:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Prior to the Great Recession, FoMoCo sold nearly everything they owned (including their blue oval trademark!) to amass a huge stockpile of cash. At the time a lot of auto industry followers were concerned this was evidence Ford was on the ropes and in dire financial straits.
They were the only auto manufacturer to foresee the troubles ahead! This liquid cash allowed them to remain viable and solvent without the need for Gov't assistance.
Let's hope Saab is doing a similar thing by amassing enough liquidity now that they won't have to tread this path again.
