career. While we are inevitably bathed in Electromagnetic radiation from a variety of sources as we go about our daily lives, it is the body's immune system that primarily protects us from its effects.

In layman's terms any amount of radiation, no matter the source that the body can effectively rid itself of and correct any minor/major cell damage is more or less considered tolerable. Ref earlier post by Richard Scott concerning 300mR of thallium employed in a simple medical test versus the tolerance of 2mR allowed while working under governmental guidelines. This is the simple reason this is such a hotly debated issue and why the Federal law states that any town or group of individuals protesting the installation of these towers in their neighborhood CANNOT cite health reasons as its primary basis for their argument! Not to mention someone in the town or the camp itself is being paid to have it in its location.

Two types of RF out there: Government controlled such as Power plants, smoke detectors, medical uses and the other is uncontrolled RF such as a microwave oven, naturally occurring radiation as well as the inquiry here.

The key is exposure or rather duration and consistency of exposure. Villagers and cows in a town in England which had a cell phone relay tower at its center did over time develop specific symptoms and minor maladies(headaches, mood swings, few tumors, reduced milk production, eating disorders)within 5 years. After 5 years of consistent exposure there were reports of cancer in varying stages(no deaths mind you) yet after removing the tower over time most symptoms disappeared and the cows within a week began to yield expected levels of milk again. They were exposed all the time.

Which is why a cell phone is considered a larger danger than a relay tower. The cell phone is usually held directly to the ear which allows RF emanations to pass through the cranial part of the body (think brain here) which is where the tumor rumors have been derived. It is direct, prolonged exposure to a specific area. Most kids text nowadays anyhow.

Check out http://www.ForumGarden.com. Decent reading without all the technical jargon and many examples of environmental aspects of RF emanations and its different types.

Unless the camp has the kids pitching tents directly around the base of the tower, send the little kiddies and let them have fun. Take lots of pics!! Hope this helps
