Actually, the State defines it: 1500 miles unless they can verify and document transportation miles. It does somewhat bother me they are breaking the law and could lose their license for doing this... the advantage is the incentives, perks and financing rates for a "new" car versus a used one... So, it's a good thing on the short term purchase.
On the long term trying to sell it down the road, it's already a year old and already has miles on it.... it's going to be worth less than a 2011 model and already has miles (5600 on tires requiring earlier replacement too and so forth). I know my current M3 will be worth more than the newer 9-5's three years down the line when I go to trade in.
So here are the deals I’m working:
Car 1: 2010 9-5 Aero, 5600 miles. Options: Nav, Tech, Rear Entertainment, Harmon... $38,900 cash. It goes to MSRP $54,490 if I use any incentives like 0% financing or $10k trade in (can’t be used in conjunction either).
Car 2: 2010 9-5 Aero, 5600 miles. Options: Nav, vented seats, Harmon...$42,912 cash. It goes to $47,671 if I use the incentives.
Car 3: 2011 9-5 Aero, 8 miles. Options: Nav, Harmon, Rear Entertainment...$48, 583 cash. No idea on additional incentives. Lease is available.
Car 4 (current ride): ‘08 BMW M3, 31000 miles. Options: All. $37,500 cash. $43,100 certified (less 5k trade in allowance).
Car 5: ‘07 Audi S8 V10, 34000 miles. Options: Nav, Bang/Olfson sound... $45,500 certified used.
ughh... decisions, decisions.......
