It's definitely very rare. I've read figures of 10, 'fewer than 10,' and 12 of the manual transmissions cars beings sold in the US from '94-96, and a few gray market earlier cars. This figure is for coupes and convertibles, so most likely a manual convertible is one of only a a few. The 5-speed is more common, though still very unusual, outside of the US.
I don't think an XJS is ever going to be a huge collectible car. There were a lot of them, they had their issues, and they were from a pretty bleak era and came in the shadow of the E-type. However, there is certainly an enthusiast base and I don't think you'd have a hard time selling this car for about what you would pay if it's in good condition, but don't necessarily expect to make a profit.
