Maybe in 20 years or so an XJS will be a bonified classic but even then there were enough of the around that your ten grand will be lucky to keep pace with inflation. I doubt the five speed will be that much of a factor. The rareness might actually work against you if it ever needs a clutch or trans work. I maintain a '97 Jag XJR (supercharged 6) for my boss (purchased new and with only 40K on it) and it's a lovely car in a lot of ways. I can see why people buy them until I bring it in for service. EVERYTHING costs a bunch--it recently needed ox sensers, four of them at $275 each, plus labor. I really think you'd come to rue the day you bought this thing at some point. Ten grand would buy you a realy nice Saab convertible and you'd be much happier with the repair bills. When you find yourself thinking about a car as an "investment" you're in bigger trouble than you know. You'd be better off marrying a LosVegas hooker.
