This one stands out. As a Residential counselor working as a volunteer with "at-risk" youth at a Private, Non-profit facility; we primarily worked the evening shift from 4-12pm or so. Our volunteer group would for dinner around 9 or 10 in the town just down the road. A one stop light town that had a chinese, fast food, a Mom and Pop, Convenient store, Pizza; whatever.
For the entire summer this townie cop stopped me once to 2x a week with bogus allegations and never once wrote an actual ticket. Sadly it became a routine. After about three weeks I filed a complaint with the department even identifying exactly what I drove, made known my affiliation with the agency two miles down the road, the hours I would be in their town and other small details to no avail.
One night a youth sneaked out of his cottage and I was tasked with others to locate him. We alert local and state authorities within this town and surrounding law enforcement to extend our search net.
We locate the resident at a local McDonalds and in the middle of apprehending him, I'm coordinating the logistics and phoning multiple agencies. The cop drives up, takes it all in and just scowls and drives away. He never stopped me after that incident.
There are folks out there who abuse their authority; its human nature and can be expected on occasion. Egocentric and ultimately insecure individuals exercise this authority for their own personal satisfaction which leaves many with the poor perception of law enforcement officials.
