I know others on this forum have the dreaded Neptune because there have been discussions about it. I think Swedecar has one :) I agree that repair is a good thing, after all I've had my Saab for 9.5 years and plan to keep it for at least a few more.
These washers were involved in a class action lawsuit. In the first 5 years the wax motor and both circuit boards were replaced, one of them twice. The motor was replaced just short of 5 years, barely under warranty, along with another circuit board. I had to pay the labor for the first repair but thankfully the others were covered under the lawsuit or warranty, they would have cost more than a new machine.
For the past few years the controls don't work right, the machine shuts off two or three times per cycle. The bearings are worn out in the replacement motor, it is so loud I can barely be in the house when it spins. And recently it is not removing all of the water when it spins, and it started leaking rusty water on the floor.
The Neptune series front loaders are what killed Maytag. If anyone wants to repair my washer, you are welcome to it. The dryer still works, you can have that too :)
