Not bad for very basic needs. Will have to look into this as a secondary option. Does this put a lot of strain on the alternator? I used a small inverter to run & charge my laptop on a long trip last year. Worked well.
I use a 5700 watt generator (7250 surge watts) and if we're conservative we can run everything (furnace, fridge, well pump, some lights, even a burner on the stove--not necessarily all at once!. We got it during our second 7-day winter power outage in two winters. Having it be 40 degrees inside in December just ain't fun! With the gen and the wood stove it's not bad.
