You can check wheel wells and underbody places where road grime sprays (abrasion) for rust. These cars often rust around the rear shocks at the top, so check that. For paint, I would use a polymer coating like Klasse - it gives you actual protection. Laser Red is a clearcoat color so you have some extra protection there as long as the clearcoat is intact.
A technique that some people use is that they start looking at other cars of your year and make that have many more miles and/or are not as well taken care of. Whereever they are rusting is the same place that yours will rust when it does. Look underneath in particular. Visit the junkyard if you can and look inside some panels and other areas that you don't normally get to see inside for more info.
No matter what you do, you can't stop rust, just delay it. Even if you stop all external abrasion and rust (and you can't) there are places where the sheet metal will eventually rust from under the paint. Steel always wants to return to its original state.
