If he's going to restore a 124, might as well jump to the cousin car and restore and old Alfa spyder. The '67 duetto spyder with the boattail and dual webbers is the definition of sports car (like a Fiat "on days it's running"). When you're done, the Alfa is worth a lot... the Fiat, not so much.
Here's a link to a slightly later one that's a bit of a hybrid, but you can get an idea of how much they can be worth when restored and glance at one of Pininfarina's best body designs ever.
