I'm a little uncertain as to all your timelines, but if your complaint for the same problem is documented before the warranty was up, you should still be covered assuming not too much time has passed. Things might be tricky with the dealer having closed, but hopefully you saved your paperwork (to some degree it should be in the Saab system too). I would definitely hassle Saab about this. It clearly sounds like your trans was headed out under warranted.
Otherwise, just keep driving it until it breaks - it may have a lot of miles left. An indy and a used transmission (they generally last pretty well) might save you a lot of money at that point.
