First I would be interested in how "no contamination of fluids" were determined.
If they used the GlyTek test kit from Nelco or just looked at the fluid and determined that it didn't look like a strawberry milkshake and that that was good enough for them.
And it would be of interest to know more about how that "double clunk" is appearing. If it is when the gear shifter is moved into D and/or R and with the car still standing still, a clunk or double clunk is felt when the gear is engaging or if it comes after the car starts moving.
Also, have the fluid been changed recently and proper fluid used?
It is lots and lots of cases with double clunk engaging shifting to D on both Saab's and Volvo's 5 speed AW transmissions and that is a problem within the valve body.
Most of the time, that problems doesn't escalate into any more serious problems and it could sometimes gets better with new fluid so I usually don't do anything about that.
But if it is even small traces of coolant in the fluid that only the GlyTek kit picks up, it is bad and needs to be addressed right away.
