RX7 Rotary is only Lite when stripped. With all it's necessary anxilaries.. erm: Starter :-) Alt, Exhaust truly massive on a rotary. Weight is right back up there with a sim sized Piston engine.
More than a few have been blindsided with that path.
Son's friend had a bespoke 3rd(last) Gen RX7 turbo 'built up'.. $10 k later :-)
It was Quick 'n scary powerful also v short lived as it soon deteriorated and finally burst.. Clearly pushed beyond even basic reliability.
Curiously/amazingly, 6 possibly 7 psi boost is all the design can reliably handle (it's a 2 stroke.. semantics aside). Mazda Factory Lemans winner engine was at 8 psi... I was amazed .
Sadly Wankles have Proven a dead end design.
Seemingly only Mazda presumably trying to amortize it's massive R&D expenditures persists.. for now.
Hyabusa 'boosted' is claimed at 450 hp.. scary thought that. There is Also a V8 version in NA and Boosted mode for the Rich and Brave
Besides this is all Moot Our Poster friend is wanting to make his own 'fuel' from his compost bin. I wish him luck :-)
