Three different V6 motors in the last decade plus Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 13 Oct 2011 12:27:46 In Reply to: V6 motor today - same as yesterday?, nwas, Thu, 13 Oct 2011 11:44:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The current V6 is manufactured by Holden in Australia. This one is said to be a fantastic engine.
The 3.0 litre V6 used in the 9-5 SE models was built by Opel in Germany. A good engine but the internals apparently were not quite strong enough for a lot of turbo boost, hence the single turbo on one cylinder bank only.
Prior to that there was a 2.8(?) litre V6 that was manufactured by Vauxhall in Great Britain. I am a little fuzzy about this engine (I am sure someone will correct me) but I think this engine was a weak sister and source of great unhappiness.
