Well I have to weigh in favoring the authorities. Warnings would be nice but they generally don't work. I think the signage should be specifc and say you will be fined if caught bike riding - they do that in some parks in Boulder CO regarding unleashed dogs - because a lot of people just think the law doesn't apply to them. I fought and won a lengthy battle regards enforcement of dog leash laws in a park near where I live - the superintendent of the park stonewalled my complaints then eventually responded to my inquiries regards leash law enforcement " well we prefer to give warnings instead of wrtiting tickets". I finally persuaded the head of parks and recreation to walk in the park with me and he observed the many unleashed dogs and the park officers doing nothing - the park super was demoted and replaced as I pursued the matter relentlessly with the city council.
I'm also a frequent vistor to Rocky Mtn Nat'l park and in October when some of the ranger stations are unattended - people sneak dogs into the park - despite signs saying they are banned.
Too many people have no respect for the rights of others and will freely violate laws if they can get away with it - so I kind of like it when I see them getting what they deserve. "my dog would never bother anyone" " my dog doesn't need to be leashed" " that law is for dangerous dogs, not my dog" yeah right on, write em up I say.
Same thing hiking on multi use trails where horses have the right of way then pedestrians and lastly bike riders. So guess which group rarely tries to stop and yield to foot traffic ? Write em up says I.
